| prologue.- Spoiler:
It was a grey Leaf-Fall night. Mist loomed in the distance, while the clouds cried silent tears. Darkness swallowed up the moonlight, and the yellow grass rippled softly as a cold breeze moved through the air. Leaf-Bare was coming.
Peachfur, a cream coated she-cat with scrawny tail and sky blue eyes, waited next to two massive boulders that leaned against each other, forming a cave. A ginger cat with glowing yellow silts padded out of the mist.
"It's time." Peachfur breathed. Peachfur, and the ginger cat walked side-by-side into the cave.

Peachfur buried her muzzle in the two kit's warm, fine coats. "They're beautiful." Peachfur whispered, with pure joy ringing happily in her tone. But that joy turned to sadness. "Why do I have to let them go, Flamefall? Why?" Peachfur asked. A single tear trickled down her face, and it hit the floor with a soft drop, which echoed softly around the rocky walls of the cave. Flamefall replied, "It's too dangerous, the kits are forbidden to be seen; exactly like we, are forbidden to be together." His voice was calm, but sad. Peachfur's tears were forming faster, and her pupils thinned out into silts. "So what are you saying, we can't be together?" Peachfur asked We can't start a happy family, and we cannot see our own kits? You fool! You 're really going to let the Warrior Code get in the way of our love? You stupid, mouse-brained, useless tom.."
